Last many of the volunteers met in Fajara (where I initially stayed at the hotel) for Bradley’s birthday. Bradley is the 5 year old son of Paul and Denise who are VSO volunteers. They have another daughter Abbey. Abbey and Bradley attend a French school in Fajara where Denise also works part time.
I work with Paul, Amy and Anne at Gambia College (we share a small office, which gets quite busy by the time all of our students are calling in and out).
Most of the volunteers in the pictures are from the groups that arrived in August last year, although some people have been here a bit longer. Carol (blue top) was the only volunteer from my group (most of my group are placed up country). Most of this group of volunteers are starting to wind down to leave from the next few weeks up until July/August.
Paul is the one going over the map with Emma’s dad and Denise is holding up Emma’s dad’s fluro vest. Emma, one of the volunteers from Kerawan, was visited by her parents earlier on. Her dad loved it here so much he is hiring a motorbike to ride around the Gambia as I type.
